Land Restored

Elisha continued to help people know about God. Elisha often stopped at the kind couple’s house in Shunem. Elisha was happy to visit with the woman and man and their son.

Elisha cared about the family, so when God helped Elisha know about a long famine that would come to the land, Elisha went to tell the family.

“Get ready, you and everyone in your house,” said Elisha. “Leave Shunem and go live in another place. God has said the famine will last seven years.”

So the woman got ready and did what Elisha said to do. The woman and her family left their house and land and traveled to a foreign land and lived there so they would have food and what they needed.

Seven years passed. The woman and her family returned to Shunem. The woman went to the king and asked him to return her land and house to her.

Gehazi, Elisha’s helper, was at the court. He was telling the king about all the great things Elisha had done.

While Gehazi talked, he saw the woman and her son. Gehazi told the king how the woman had been kind to Elisha, and how Elisha had helped the woman’s son.

Gehazi introduced the woman to the king. The king listened to the woman tell her story and request to get her land back.

The king respected Elisha and knew he served God. The king told a court official to make sure the woman got back all her money and land.
