Paul and Timothy

Paul traveled to many towns and cities to teach people about Jesus. Once Paul went to a city called Lystra and met a young man named Timothy. Timothy’s mother and grandmother taught Timothy about Jesus.

People in Lystra said good things about Timothy. Paul heard what was said and wanted Timothy to travel with him to tell people about Jesus.

So Timothy began to visit towns and churches with Paul. The men helped church leaders learn more about Jesus and ways to show their love for Him.

Paul was glad Timothy knew Jesus. Paul wanted to help Timothy be a good church leader.

Paul wrote a letter to Timothy about many important things. Paul wrote:

Dear Timothy, my son,

I thank Jesus for helping me and giving me strength to teach about Him. Now I want to help you be strong and wise.

First, pray that all people will come to know Jesus. Then live like Jesus so the people around you will know you love Jesus.

Help the people in your church know what is right to do. Take care of widows and children without parents. Respect older people and listen to them. Be loving and gentle.

Teach only what is true. Teach people to do what is right and to share with one another. Be an example to others.

Remember all the things you have learned.
