The Book of 2 Timothy

Timothy lived in a city called Ephesus. Timothy was the leader of the church in the city.

Timothy’s friend Paul was in Rome. Paul loved Timothy and missed him. Paul was like a father to Timothy, and he wanted to help Timothy. So Paul wrote a letter to Timothy to remind him about the importance of telling people about Jesus and learning from the Bible.

Paul told Timothy he prayed for him day and night. “I want to see you, Timothy,” Paul wrote.

“Share with people the good news about Jesus. Tell them how much Jesus loves them and will help them. Continue to teach what is right and good.”

Paul wrote some more. “Don’t get discouraged, Timothy. God will help you understand everything. If you are true to Him, He will be true to you.”

Paul said that Timothy should choose to do what is right, be loving and kind, use kind and gentle words, and avoid arguing. “God’s helpers must not quarrel or fuss, but be gentle to everyone,” Paul wrote.

Paul wanted Timothy to know that loving Jesus is not always easy, but God would help him. “Continue learning from the Scriptures (Bible). You know that the things your mother and grandmother taught you can help you.” Paul said that God gave the Bible to people so they could know Him and learn how to do His work.

“Be a patient teacher, Timothy. Tell about Jesus. Encourage others, and help them know what is true.”
