To know that my spiritual family here at the church was able to help me get through arguably my greatest personal challenge [and] public personal challenge means a lot. It allows you to redefine family and I'm at a point now where I'm so far delivered and removed that I strive to make sure that I can be that type of vessel or asset for anybody else.

A Cycle of Sin

Joshua had been the people’s leader. He warned the people to obey God and remember how God loved and protected them. Joshua told the families to choose God and serve Him. If the people loved and worshiped God, He would always take care of them. And that is what the people did for many years. They kept God’s laws and loved God with all their hearts. After Joshua became very, very old, he died, and the people buried him in his homeland. Then things began to change. The families did not tell their children about the years the people traveled through the wilderness and across the river to their new home. The children did not learn about God or the wonderful things He did for the people. So the families and the children did evil things. They forgot about God. They chose to worship false gods. God was not happy with the people. The people continued to do wrong things and disobey God. Sometimes God sent judges (leaders) to remind the people what God said and to help the people. The judges said God would save the people again.
