September 13, 2026
Passage: Genesis Gen. 15:1-21
God had a special plan for Abram. One night, God gave a message to Abram. “Do not be afraid, Abram. I will protect you. Your reward will be great," God said.
Abram wondered about the reward God was talking about. Abram said, "God, what can you give me? I don't have any children, and everything I have I will give to my servant." God then told Abram His plan. God said Abram would have a child of his own. God told Abram to look at the sky and try to count the stars. God told Abram that his family would have children and more children until there were more people in Abram's family than stars in the sky.
Abram believed what God said. Abram knew God had a plan for him. Abram trusted God to keep His promise.
God was pleased that Abram believed these things would happen. Later God said, “Your name will be Abraham now. And your wife will be called Sarah. I will give Sarah a son.”
God kept His promise to Abraham. When Abraham was 100 years old, Sarah had a baby boy, and Abraham named him Isaac.
Abraham and Sarah were happy that they now had a child. Abraham and Sarah knew this was God's plan.
