The Church Chose Leaders
June 28, 2026
Passage: Acts 6:1-7
More and more people were going to the church in Jerusalem. The church helpers were busy teaching people about Jesus.
One day, some people at the church began talking. They had learned that some of the people in the church were not getting enough food to eat. The church people were not happy about this.
Leaders at the church listened as the people explained the problem. Then the leaders thought of a plan. The church leaders told the people to come together at the church.
"We are all Jesus' helpers. We church leaders have special work to do. But people in our neighborhood need your help. Choose seven good and wise men from our church to help the hungry people and take care of their needs. This is important work to do. Then we leaders can keep on teaching and praying."
All the people at church thought this was a good plan. They chose Stephen, Philip, and five other men. Then the church helpers and leaders prayed with the
seven men.
Stephen, Philip, and the five other men took food to everyone who needed it. The church leaders continued to teach and pray.
The people at church knew it was good to work together for the good of
everyone.
