Peter and seven other disciples were together. Peter said, “I’m going fishing.” “We’re coming with you,” the friends said. So they got into their boat and sailed out into the water. The men fished all night, but they did not catch any fish. In the morning, the men looked at the shore. They saw a man. The man shouted to the fishermen, “You don’t have any fish, do you?” “No,” replied the disciples. Then the man on the shore told the disciples to throw their net on the right side of the boat. “You’ll find some fish,” the man said. So that is what the disciples did. They caught so many fish they could not even get them on the boat! Then John knew the man on the shore was Jesus, their friend! When Peter heard this, he jumped out of the fishing boat and swam to shore to see Jesus! “Bring some of the fish you caught,” Jesus told the men. “Come, eat breakfast,” Jesus said. The men saw a campfire with bread and fish cooking. Jesus had cooked breakfast for the men. After breakfast, Jesus talked to Peter. “Do you love Me?” Jesus asked. Peter said yes. Then Jesus said, “Follow Me.”

Mary Magdalene was so sad. Her friend Jesus’ body was in a tomb in a garden. Mary went to the garden. She stood outside the tomb and cried. She stooped to look inside the tomb. Then she had another surprise—Jesus’ body was gone! Then Mary saw two angels wearing white. They were sitting in the tomb. The angels asked Mary why she was crying. Mary said, “I do not know where Jesus is!” Mary turned around to leave the garden. And there, standing near her, was a man. Mary did not know the man was Jesus, though. Jesus said Mary’s name. Suddenly Mary recognized Jesus. She said, “Teacher!” Jesus told Mary Magdalene to go to the disciples and tell them the news. Mary hurried away saying, “I have seen Jesus!” Later, Jesus went to a disciple’s house. All the disciples there were excited to see Jesus again. They told their friend Thomas, “We have seen Jesus!” At first, Thomas did not believe this news, but then Jesus spoke to Thomas. Then Thomas knew it was true—the man really was Jesus. Jesus was alive!
