To know that my spiritual family here at the church was able to help me get through arguably my greatest personal challenge [and] public personal challenge means a lot. It allows you to redefine family and I'm at a point now where I'm so far delivered and removed that I strive to make sure that I can be that type of vessel or asset for anybody else.

Jesus Washed the Disciples' Feet

It was almost time for the special Passover celebration and Jesus wanted to be with His disciples. Jesus and the disciples had just finished eating. Jesus stood up and took off His robe. He got a towel and tied it around His waist. The disciples began to watch Jesus. What was Jesus doing? the men wondered. Then they saw Jesus pour some water into a pan. Jesus began to wash each man’s feet and dry them with the towel. The disciples could not believe their eyes! They were surprised that Jesus was doing this. Then Jesus went to Peter and bent down. “Jesus, are You going to wash my feet?” Peter asked. Jesus looked at Peter. Then He answered, “You don’t understand what I am doing here, but later you will understand.” Peter got upset. “You will never wash my feet—ever!” Peter shouted. But Jesus told Peter he must let Jesus do this, or Peter could no longer have anything to do with Jesus. Then Peter tried to get Jesus to wash him all over. But Jesus said He did not need to do that. Jesus explained, “I have shown you what you should do.” Jesus told His disciples they must now follow His example. Jesus wanted His helpers to know He loved them. He wanted them to be kind and loving to others. He wanted them to be ready to serve others as He had served them.
