Abraham's Sacrifice

Passage: Genesis Gen. 22:1-18
God decided to give Abraham a test. It would be a test to show that Abraham trusted God and knew God would always help him.
So, one day God said, "Abraham!"
Abraham answered, "Here I am."
"Take your son Isaac on a trip," God told Abraham. "Go to the land of Moriah." God told Abraham what to do when he got to the mountain.
Early in the morning Abraham got up. He saddled his donkey and called for Isaac and two servants. Abraham cut wood to take on the trip.
One day, two days, three days. Abraham, Isaac, and the servants traveled three days. When they reached the mountain, Abraham told the servants to stay with the donkey while he and Isaac went somewhere to worship God.
Abraham laid the wood on Isaac to carry to the place where they would have the special worship.
Isaac saw all the things his father Abraham had brought, but Isaac did not see a lamb for the offering. “The wood and the fire are here, but where is the lamb, Father?" Isaac asked. He knew they needed a lamb for the special worship.
Abraham told Isaac not to worry. "God will help us. He will send the sheep to us," Abraham said.
And that is exactly what God did. After Abraham built a fire, God provided a sheep for the offering.
It was an important test for Abraham. God was pleased that Abraham obeyed. God said, "I will bless you and your children because you obeyed Me."
