Jesus Called His Disciples
August 03, 2025
JOHN 1:35-50
After John baptized Jesus in the Jordan River, Jesus began to
go around the towns and countryside. One day, Jesus was walking
down a road. John saw Jesus. John told two of his helpers to look
and see someone more important than John. “The One you see is
the Son of God!” John said to the men with him.
Right away, the men left John and started following Jesus down
the road.
Jesus turned around and said, “What are you looking for?”
The men said, “Teacher, where are you staying?”
Jesus answered, “Come. You’ll see.”
So, the two men went with Jesus and stayed with Him all day.
Andrew was one of the men who followed Jesus that day. He
hurried to find his brother, Simon. “We have found the Messiah,
Jesus!” Andrew said excitedly to his brother.
Simon went with Andrew to see Jesus.
The next day, Jesus decided to go to Galilee. Jesus saw a man
named Philip and said, “Follow Me.”
Philip was excited. He went to get Nathanael and told him the
news. “We have found the person Moses and the prophets wrote
about. He is Jesus, the son of Joseph, from Nazareth!” Philip led
Nathanael to where Jesus was staying.
Andrew, Simon, Philip, and Nathanael followed Jesus. They
were Jesus’ first disciples.
Jesus said to the men who followed Him, “You will see great
things.”
