The Book of Habakkuk
July 20, 2025
Habakkuk was a prophet to the people in Judah. The people
in Judah had been in trouble for a long time. Other kings fought
Judah and led the people to do wrong things.
Habakkuk was not happy about this. He was confused and
upset. Habakkuk talked to God about it. Habakkuk asked God why
He did not punish the people for doing wrong.
“How long, God, must I call for help? Why do You let the people
continue to do wrong? I see meanness and fighting right in front
of me. And it’s going to get worse.”
Habakkuk was frustrated.
God answered, “Look around! Things are happening that you
won’t believe. I have a plan.”
Then Habakkuk asked God another question. “Are You not
the One who lives forever? You are too good to even look at
wrongdoing.”
Habakkuk waited for God to answer. “I will watch to see what
God will say to me,” Habakkuk said.
Then God told Habakkuk to write down what God told him so
others could read it. God said, “It is not time yet. Wait.”
God wanted Habakkuk to know that God had a plan and
everything would change at the right time.
Though Habakkuk could see the bad things happening, he knew
he could trust God. “God is my strength,” said Habakkuk.
