Jesus Healed an Official's Son

August 17, 2025

Passage: John 4:46-54

Jesus and His helpers were in Cana. While Jesus was in that

city, a royal official, a leader in Cana, wanted to find Jesus and

talk to Him. The official had a son who was very, very sick, and it

seemed no one could help him. But the official had heard about

the amazing things Jesus was doing, and the official knew Jesus

could make his son well.

“Jesus, please come to my home and heal my son. He is very

sick and may not live much longer,” the official said to Jesus.

Jesus knew the people watching Him were waiting for Jesus to

do something unbelievable. And Jesus knew the official believed

Jesus could make his sick son well.

Then Jesus said to the man, “Go. Your son will live.”

The man believed what Jesus said would happen, that the man’s

son would be well. So, the man left as Jesus told him to do.

As the official was returning to his home, his servants rushed

to see him. They had great news—the official’s son was well. The

official asked, “What time did my son get better?”

“Yesterday afternoon at 1:00, the fever was gone,” answered

the servants.

The official realized that this was exactly the same time that

Jesus said, “Your son will live.” The official and his whole family

knew for sure that only Jesus could do this wonderful thing!
